I grew up in Springfield, Oregon, and graduated from Thurston High School in 1997. I attended college for 2 years at George Fox University, but came back to Eugene when I decided I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do with my life. I met Michael Laberee in 2001, and in 2002 our first child was born. Sienna was, and still is, one of my biggest joys in life. She’s kind, imaginative, compassionate, and loves her family. Lance was born in 2006. Wow, are boys different! He’s full of energy, athletic, funny, and quite the little show-off. Every day, those kids do something, say something, or make a face that reminds me of their dad. I will forever have 2 beautiful reminders of him.
I have always loved helping people. I don’t know how many friends I have moved into my home when they needed a place to go. I’ve picked up hitchhikers and brought the homeless to my home, despite warnings from everyone around me, and the crazy looks I’ve had when telling people these stories! But I believe in kindness and love, and showing both to others makes my heart smile. When Alisa told me about Dream OhSo Big, I knew I wanted to be a big part of it! What a perfect outlet not only for me, but eventually for my kids. Not only will they be learning some pretty valuable skills, but it will be in memory of their dad. I could not be more thrilled to be part of this, and to see Dream OhSo Big make a real difference in peoples’ lives! ~Jolene
